About the film
Pyatigorsk, at the foot of Mount Mashuk, morning of 15 July 1841.
Just two days earlier, Lermontov and Martynov were friends. Now, they have become irreconcilable enemies. Only a few hours remain before their duel, yet none of the poet’s friends, relatives or acquaintances anticipates the tragic outcome.
A fateful conflict, a premonition of the inevitable and the majestic Caucasus - a story of the poet’s final hours, where fate, friendship and tragedy intertwine.
The screening of Russian films is organised as part of ROSKINO’s KINODIPLOMACY project, implemented in countries around the world with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
