A ceremony was held at Municipal Corporation of Delhi—ahead of the celebrations marking Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday—to open an exhibition dedicated to the profound connection between him and the renowned Russian writer Leo Tolstoy. The exhibition was organized with the support of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in India.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to India, Denis Alipov, and the head of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Mayor Pravesh Wahi. The event was also attended by the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in India, Alexander Dodonov.
The exhibition details the long-standing correspondence between the two great thinkers, their mutual influence, and their shared views on the philosophy of non-violence, humanism, and spiritual self-improvement. Guests—including prominent public figures, diplomats, and cultural representatives—viewed archival materials, letters, and photographs that highlight the enduring bond between the legacies of Russia and India.
